| MONARD, INC. was established in
the early spring of 2002 to meet the needs of professional workers employed in the various
fields of emergency response, management, and service related industries. The concept for
the formation of this company was born when Mr. John Laufer conceived the idea that
certain tools could be designed and made to perform tasks in emergency situations which,
under normal circumstances, would expose workers to the risk of injury and often resulted
in significant damage to private properties. Mr. Laufer is a veteran Police Officer with
over 15 years of community service. Prior to his experience in the Law Enforcement field,
he worked as a Draftsman and Consultant in an engineering firm. He had been involved in
several emergency situations at hotels and motels where it became necessary to make entry
into a particular room to render assistance. In a few of these instances he arrived to
find that the doors to these rooms had been double locked by a latch mechanism inside.
Despite the fact that hotel management had provided him with a key card. He and other
rescue workers were still unable to enter these rooms without breaking down the door. He
knew that there had to be a better way to help people without liability of causing
hundreds of dollars in damage, or allowing an emergency worker such as a paramedic to
dislocate his shoulder while attempting to force a steel door open. He put his talents and
experience to work in his private workshop and designed the 'LOCK-JOCKEY' device. The device was designed to be simple and safe to use, and could easily be
produced. It enabled its user to by-pass the most common latch devices used in the lodging
industries in a matter of seconds, and without causing any damage. Mr. Laufer realized
that many benefits that this device had to offer the community and proceeded to have it
patented and produced. He solicited the assistance of his brother-in-law, Mr. Francis
Keough, to establish the viability of manufacturing such a device on a greater scale. Mr.
Keough had been employed as a manager in a milling and machine shop for over seven years
and was familiar with the manufacturing industry. The two men decided that their combined
skills and knowledge were a perfect match for the task at hand and thus MONARD, INC. was
born.
We sincerely thank you for your interest in our products and
look forward to the opportunity to serve you in the future!
Sincerely,
John Laufer, President
